We have been fortunate with the opportunity of spending the last year and a half in Europe, it has been a great exposure for our 9 year old son, he loves museums and history and we get easy transfer from country to country.
Among the things we like: Europeans do know how to holiday, they take from 15 to 30 days every year and go to different destinations around the globe, the holidays season normally coincides with the summer season (specifically from July 15th to August 15th. Europeans enjoy food and coffee, in every country we have visited you can see tourists and locals alike shading from the sun and sipping coffee at the numerous coffee shops.
Food is an art and you have to learn how to enjoy it, the cuisine changes from country to country from town to town, everywhere we can still “feel” the mediterranean flavor: just add oil and olives and you are it. Bread is delicious everywhere and it is normally hand made and right out of the oven.
When packing, please ensure that you are traveling light, there is so much to see and do and buy, and so little time to figure out what to wear, I learned this the hard way, I now travel with a very small suitcase carrying only my essentials.
Be ready to enjoy nature and to drive through winding roads. The best transportations systems we found in Paris, London & Spain. In Paris please be aware that if you buy a metro card, you need to ensure that you inset a picture to avoid fines and some other problems with the transportation authorities.
